Doing business in a foreign country is not an easy task. Each country will have its own set of cultural, economic, political and social values. Developed countries today are much interested in making their business presence in developing countries. However, for them to be successful in a new country, several factors have to be considered. This essay discusses in detail the business structure and cultural issues that an American textile company has to encounter in conducting business in China. The next section discusses about the trends between export and import of textiles between USA and China followed by a discussion with respect to textile regimes that exist between China and USA. After having discussing the political risks that would be encountered by an American textile company in conducting business in China, this section finally explores which one among the two international business strategies by name export and foreign direct investment suits best for an American textile company to do business in China.
