In the current paradigm it is evident that the students who come from wealthier backgrounds are able to sustain in the current world. They are able to develop the heuristics that are required to learn based on the economic resources. It is clear that the students from the lower income group do not have access to the basic facilities. It is imperative to have a system such that the people from all backgrounds have the basic facilities to reach the education system. Shikshak is a system that is designed for the rural children (Chakraborty et al., 2007).
A particular group of students were chosen and there were low cost innovative teaching tools were designed along with the heuristics of the group (Chakraborty et al., 2007). This enabled the students to learn about the subject. There were variations based of the parental education and social background. The student model and the topic planner for the curriculum design were automation and the material selection was subsequently done to teach the students. It was determined from this process that the students who benefitted the most were the students who were able to garner the infrastructure. It was clear in this paradigm that for a teaching module to be effective it was important to have the basic resources to teach and that the students can gain from this Shikshak method of education (Chakraborty et al., 2007; Koedinger et al., 2013) developed a new model for the Intelligent Tutoring system.
It was developed based on the widespread ubiquitous technology and its use. The technology that is developed should fundamentally benefit the students and be sensitive towards the immediate needs of the students in their learning endeavors. In the case of learning a language, the lexical development and the linguistic skills of the teaching tools and the tutor is imperative. Research by Koedinger et al. (2013) found a system that was designed to optimize, evaluate the proceedings and develop function for the intelligent tutors. This was based on the probabilities or rules behind learning of the grammar, induction of the rules and the Markov decision making process. Statistical statements were also considered in this analogy. In this model there was explanation of the cognitive learning of the students that was based on the fundamental tenets of artificial intelligence.
It is imperative to have a system that enables the students to learn the subject along with developing the cognitive ability of reasoning. There was focus given to the technical aspect, learning was done based on the fundamental abilities of the students and each student was able to learn the subject based on their subjective needs (Woolf, 2010). It was determined that this learning model enabled all the people to learn the subject at their own pace. All the related stakeholders of the system were benefitted from this process. The issue or the limitation with each of the tutoring system for the rural communities and for the lower income students in the urban communities are that these are still in the inception phase. A lot more research and development needs to be developed in order to create a system that would be beneficial for all the stakeholders involved in the approach.
