Describe the essential ingredients of interpretation.Think about how they relate to each other in the interpretation you deliver.
The interpretive message (what is the message you are trying to get across?)
The message to the tourists is that New Zealand is an eclectic society that has diverse landscape and art. The indigenous people in the region have their own identity. Based on Tilden principle, the focus will be about the audience. As a tour guide, the important factor that will be considered are the interest of the audience. The audience are typically looking for a local flavor and culture of the space. The interpretive message would be that New Zealand has a unique special culture and the audience are bound to experience the uniqueness during their tour of the place. The audience are expected to develop an interest with the space based on the message delivered. It is estimated that this interest would lead the people to develop real emotional connect to the space.
The audience (who)
To address any audience the principles of Tilden principles will be used. The audience interest needs to be addressed. It is an important to factor in the tangible place and the intangibles in the process. The audience emotional connect needs to be addressed with the space. In the case of the people looking to experience the culture of New Zealand, the scenic location, visitor areas in the protected lands and arts of the place will be used. These would enable the audience to connect with the space. The audience in this case are the tourists who visit New Zealand. Mostly they are the audience who want to experience the local culture of the space.
Setting and context (where and the environment)
Ultimately it depends on the audience interest about the location. If the audience wants to experience real time scenic landscape they will be invited to visit the space where they can experience the same. The scenic areas such as Mt Taranaki or Waitomo Caves will be the chosen areas that the guide would provide to the people to visit the place. Context that would be developed is based on the innate interest of the audience.
The interpretive technique (how to deliver)
The delivery technique would consist of taking the audience to a particular local and focusing on the emotions of the audience. Based on the interest of the audience there will be determinations made on the mode of delivery. There will be the use of aide such as apps to show the content and the delivery of the speaker will be the tools that will be used. The dialogue will be fostered to create an environment of growth.
