Bringing changes in an organizations based on the environment has its own challenges. The fact that change is necessary is beyond doubt but bringing those changes require a lot of planning due to the challenges which are faced during the whole process. Some of the challenges could be as below:
Planning: Change in any organization requires excessive planning. This is because any major change in the organization would show its effect on the business (Pettigrew et al, 2001). To make sure that this effect is positive all the minute details should be planned well in advance. People with good experience in the managing such changes should be hired so that the process of change is well planned and implemented in a proper manner.
Lack of consensus regarding change: The common tendency of humans is to be in a comfort zone and not to change. Thus, any proposal of change in the working environment will have a mixed consensus. There would be some of the people in favour of the change and some not in favour of the change. The people who would be in favour of the change would always become volunteers and drive the whole change process but there would be no cooperation from the people who are not in the favour of the change (Ramos & Ruíz, 2004). A good planning would also cover this task of making the employees understand why the change is required and how it would benefit the organization as well each and every individual. If this is done correctly and a consensus on the change is achieved, the change process become very easy and implementation goes smoothly.
Communication: When the environment and things change in an organization then having a proper communication between the management and the employee is very necessary. The employees should know the reason and the effect behind each and every change which is implemented. If the communication between the employees and the management is not proper then rumours start to originate. These rumours could create issues for the company and could create an air of uncertainty in the market. The share prices of the organization could fall and the employee could even start leaving if the communication regarding the implementation of the changes is not proper between the employees, the media and the management.
