One of the most celebrated composers of Romantic Period – Frédéric François Chopin was born in Warsaw to a French father and Polish mother. Right from his early days, his eccentric lifestyle made him apart from other conductor of his times. His musical virtuosity was celebrated primarily in the elitist circle (the circle he liked) and was highly inspired by the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach but interestingly he could not accept the work of Ludwig Van Beethoven.
The harmonics of Chopin was so brilliant that composer Felix Mendelssohn once remarked “One does not know at times whether (the note he plays) are right or wrong”.[1](Swafford, 2006, p.246)
Chopin was considered the master of Ballade which is one unique aspect of his work. Chopin showed his musical calibre right from the age of 20 when he composed the great G Minor Ballade. Moreover his repertoire also included the beautiful little pieces and most importantly the Polish dance: Polonaise and Mazurka.
The work of Chopin clearly indicates his innate voice and his emotion which he expressed with his works. Some of the famous work besides the four Ballades is Nocturne, but still Ballade is considered as his most intricate works. Sometimes the opening melody which flows languidly forming a surreal vision is clearly a beauty that cannot be ignored by any Western Classical listener.
