The author mentions a story that some traders from space come to America and asks to abduct all the black African-Americans and in exchange promises to give them three things; unlimited source of natural energy to not have any scarcity of energy ever, enough gold so that the government could retire their national debt, and a magic chemical capable of cleaning all the country’s polluted air in the sky. The story is a way of bringing out the hatred of white Americans towards the black and it how the whites have been reacting and treating the blacks since centuries. This idea is not pessimistic in a way because he has tried to pull the dirt present in people’s mind about discrimination to a national level so that everyone would be aware of their own past deeds that have been causing a lot of disturbance to the livelihood of the blacks. The idea here is to spot the sameness of time that was equivalent to some 400 years back when the Africans arrived in America, and that there has been no racial progress in America. The facts are being brought about for a reason and if there is a single practice of discrimination existing in the entire country and there is no enforcement of the non-discrimination law, then the story stands for rue and legitimate. This is because, if there is a fault in a system even after forming and amending the law many times and not display of determination to follow the law or enforce it in society, then there is no use of forming new laws when one law has not been followed till date. Mere changing and amending laws will not give a positive result, but it will find new ways of excusing from not following the law.
