It is hard to say that Social network is good or bad, although social network gives us a lot of things that we don’t have before. Facebook still occupied a big place in our mind. However, “With the growing reliance on social media, we no longer search for news, or the products and services we wish to buy. Instead they are being pushed to us by friends, acquaintances and business colleagues.” ( Eirk Qualman, Digital Leader) People get in touch with their friends not only in their real life but also online. But is that good for us? I saw the people around me play Facebook all the time include me, sometimes there is no news on our wall but we still play on it. Why Facebook attract me so much? Why do all the people play on Facebook? Will Facebook damage us? I got all the question around me so I decided to do the research of why people like to play Facebook and the negative of Facebook. That is the main reason for me to do the research in this essay. Another reason for me to do the research and write the essay is because the film “Social network.” When I saw the film, I have think about when the Facebook came out, it was actually disturb people’s life some how, when the people who have a thousand friends, what is the true meaning of “friends”? When the communication become into unilateral, will we never alone again or much more lonely? Mark Zuckerberg has five million friends without making a few enemies, his best friend is trying to indict him, all the film contains black humor. For my point of view, when I see the story have shadow, I laughed. “…Socializing on the Internet is to socializing what reality TV is to reality.” -Aaron Sorkin on the Colbert Report (Sep 30, 2010). The social network reminds us of how lonely we are, So, I want to do more research about Facebook.
At first, I saw everyone play Facebook at any free time, when they wake up, at school even on the train, Facebook is one of the important part in people’s life. But I saw almost the comments on the Facebook are positive, just a few people said their friends are not good enough. People often said “ I like this” on Facebook, but is this all their thought? I have a suspicion on it. However, I think lots of people are pretending themselves, Alone together is one of my favorite book, the book gives me a big impact in people pretending in Social network. Also, I found the answer in why people want to so much friends in Facebook. I also read the book Tales from Facebook and Social Intelligence, both let me know more about social network by theory. I also find some resources from the Internet, BBC news, The sun and other online newspaper still gives me a greatness help. One of problem is in the private part, I am not accomplished in computer, so I trust networking and trust Facebook unless I saw many news that shows me online networking is not much security as I thought. I have study to show how Facebook is not save by using my Facebook step by step and I trust it.
