We can say that deflation is always bad for the economy, this is because of the three reasons, of which one is on the supply side and two are on the demand side.

This is because of the fact that when prices drop then just having ideal cash with us act as a good investment with a positive yield, the banks in Japan provide between yields when compared to banks in America. and others who consider to borrow have to think about the fact that the loans would have to be repaid in terms of dollars, even if they are for investment purpose, that are more worthy than the ones which we borrowed. All this could be offset if the economy is doing well by just keeping the rate of interest low. But, even a zero rate of interest might not be low enough to achieve the full employment level when the economy is not doing well. 
The economy stay depressed when this happens as people are expecting deflation and it might continue as the economy continues to be in the state of depression. This is known as the deflationary trap and it has a significant impact on the economy.
