The families are purposefully broken up by the government in the Oceania’s society in order to keep its power intact. The building blocks of the manipulative and the vast Party which has the control over the whole society are the families who act as the pieces of this hollow government. In order o avoid people to unite or feel loved, the families in this society need to be non-existent. Also, the party also has a complete control over the children. It is quite normal if the family members do not have strong bind or love amongst one another, but if they have suspicion amongst any of the person who does not have true love for the party then it is quite normal that they could turn that person to the government for punishment. In addition, it is also observed in the novel that even the family members tend to turn each other up in the similar circumstances.
The families which are controlled by the government have the tendency to create a stronger party and on the other hand it leads to the creation of a cycle of breaking of families.
Moreover, the families which would come in the future would also produce large probes which are disguised as children. There is an increased authority of the government in the society, with more and more children who are taught to continue the legacy of the party (Sessions, 2014). The people would result in losing their will on their own life as the government continues to gain more and more power with the passage of time.
