When a problem is not critically pondered upon and the situation is not analysed completely, the company’s collaborative efforts have become a victim of groupthink and the profitability is bound to fall. The group starts to believe that their decision is the best and doesn’t analyse the pros and cons fully (Choi et al, 1999). When the group is unable to examine the risks of preferred choice, create contingency plans, then the profitability of the company is at threat.
As a concluding statement, groupthink can be very destructive for an organization as it kills innovation and creative thinking to problem solving. Identifying its symptoms and cutting its roots will help the organization be flexible, innovation and open to all ideas (Packer, 2009).
