Apart from this the author has used a number of newspaper clippings this is apparent during the course of story line (Stoker, 1897). This makes the audience manifest a feeling that the events presented are actually true. It adds to the overall illusionary aspect of the story. From presenting the different viewpoint, the audience is able to gain information about the holistic story. It sanctions the audience to understand the different emotions and perspectives. For instance Mina explains her emotions when she consoles a visible shaken Mr. Morris.
“We women have something of the mother in us that makes us rise above smaller matters when the mother spirit is invoked. I felt this big sorrowing man’s head resting on me, as though it were that of a baby that some day may lie on my bosom, and I stroked his hair as though he were my own child” (Stoker, 1987, pp. 328).
This allows the user to understand the inherent emotions associated with the event. It also elucidates how Morris reacts to the situation and the manner in which Mina consoles him. This allows the audience to essentially feel the situation.
If it has only one perspective it is considered to be monologic work. If it has two perspective and expressions of two characters it is considered to be dialogic and if it has more than two viewpoints it is considered to be polylogic work (Senf, 1998). As mentioned earlier it allows subjective realism. Dracula Novel is a paradigm example of Gothic Horror novel (Stoker, 1897). This storyline creates a feeling of terror and allows the audience to experience romance from different perspectives. It amalgamates elements of horror and romance (Stoker, 1897). There is an eclectic mix of different subjective viewpoints in this gothic novel (Senf, 1998). This is done using the epistolary format by the author.

It probes into detail and divulges the intricate emotions of the main characters. It also allows the author’s attempt to elucidate the story from an unbiased stance. For instance Harper musings and how he plans to escape from the castle, his emotions and plan for the future is discussed. This abruptly shifts to the journal of Mina in the Fifth chapter (Stoker 1897, pp. 78). Audiences are left wondering what had happened to Harper there is only a rhetoric that shows the Harper would have possibly been killed. Each journal entry presented in this novel by the characters builds on the journal presented by the other character. There is also a common suspense element that is presented in each of the journal entries. This builds expectancy for the audiences to think about the ending that would be presented to them. Audiences are also given the latitude to perceive the story from multiple viewpoints. Since this story adds to the imagination of the audience it was welcomed and had gained popularity (Senf, 1998).
Common criticism for epistolary format is that in an attempt to present multiple viewpoints, certain key ideologies become compromised. It has been observed that there is many layers of meanings for any situation and people commonly choose to evade those viewpoints to form their own connotation (Senf, 1998). Stoker in an attempt to present many viewpoints might have compromised certain underlying meanings by the main protagonists. Nevertheless Stoker has managed to maintain coherence in the story line in spite of the issues with this format. When the book was initially released there were a number of critics who stated that this story line did not contribute to the illusionary aspect. Rather they perceived it to bring only disgust in the audience who read this story (Senf, 1998). It was only after a certain amount of time this book was appreciated as a Gothic horror classic.
In this novel the distinct criticism of the values of the contemporary times can be clearly seen (Stoker, 1897). This story was written during the turn of the 20th century. There has been a number of cultural paradigm shifts since that time. Owing to which this certain cultural influences and manifestation might not be relevant in the modern times.
