The existing structure and strategies of HAIER International Ltd were viewed by its board to be out of step with its competitors, and HAIER International’s newly appointed chief executive officer, Victor Latino, decided that it was time for a change of direction. It was decided to‘re-engineer’ business processes within HAIER International, with the intention of building a solid foundation that would be highly profitable with a fast time-to-market response and low IT costs. This change included the introduction of enterprise architecture as a strategy to centralize core business processes (industry-wide smart card development) to maintain management structure, the standardization of systems and incorporation of teams at the ‘front line’. Latino thought that everyone at HAIER International Ltd would be excited by the prospects of organizational change. (Credit Suisse, 2010). Quality of service delivery is paramount, and suppliers and channel members play a major role in service quality. It is a method which can be used in lean organization to considerably reduce the lead time and in turn introduce efficiency in the system.
