It has been seen in various researches that since the last part of the 20th century, the spectacular rise of the discourse on identity shall be seen as a reflection of the experience of the human during the globalisation age. Moreover, it could also be said that as compared to all the analytical and theorising results of identity studies, the obsession with the identity discourse per se shows more about the recent picture of the human society (Hall 1996). With regards to the formation of the identity in the post-modern age, something has gone wrong as per researches conducted in the past. It was in a matter-of-fact manner that the past generations handled the issue of identity formation and problems related to the same; however, new problems have been added to the old problems by the new dimensions of globalization. The current world’s circumstances have added fresh dimensions to both collective and personal identity together with changing the process of identity formation across the societies all over the globe. In addition, the rapid alterations which features the age of globalization has eroded most of the bases on which individual tend to stick their identity to. Even though, the word identity has implications of continuity and this is what sets a firm foundation wherein individuals anchor themselves. Hence, it could be said that the content and shape of the age old issue of cultural identity has been intensified by globalization. It has been argued by researchers and academicians that the manner in which the things most of times tend to go unnoticed till the time they stop behaving or disappear; the issue of cultural identity in the globalization era is the reflection of the fact that the issue related to the same are not as straightforward and simple as they were in the past.
