Modern art in Europe showed characteristics of postmodern art. Postmodern British art is very much influenced by young British artists and material culture. Most known members in Young British Artists (YBA) movement are: Rachel Whitread, Damien Hierst, and Tracey Emin.
Antony Gormely’s sculpture is a metal made 20 meters,for example, 66 ft. high human figure produced in 2000s. Indian born AnishKapoor has public work around the world like cloud gate in Chicago.At the same time western art grew up and faced more widely known movements. Both Europe and America provided much needed freedom to their artists, and that brought a much sense in art world. There came the decade of abstract art and it was really a new subject for artists. Expressing views through abstract paintings provided a wider horizon to artists. Old art like sculptures and calligraphy was still there but new ways kept growing. Auctions and art houses were of key importance in growth of arts. Art was always considered a less money making way of living across the world. Auction houses played a key role in bringing work in front of world. It started generating money and thus motivated many other to know about arts. Museums also played a good role in providing popularity to arts. This is the reason later western art became very popular and has seen very famous artists. Eastern art was vivid in heritage but lacked support from society and government.
Africa was also full of artistic heritage and it provides a fusion in almost all aspect of arts. They are very much affected with American culture and thus provide a good mix of African American art (Thompson, R. F. 2010). African art mostly considered as Sub-Sahara region. Africa is one of the cultures where most of the sculptures were in wood compared to Greek and Romans where they make stone or marble sculpture. That is the reason most of the African old sculptures are not known to current world as they demolished. Education level in the eastern countries is increasing gradually. Globalization has brought this world together. Free ideas and views are shared across the geography. All these factors are creating a good environment for the artists. There are few considerations in Chinese and Middle East countries where still government controls the right of expression but overall the world is becoming an open place and it is a very good sign for artists and art lovers.
